Straight Edge Boards

Straight-edge boards have been traditionally used for furniture making. Also known as dimensional timber, these boards are commonly glued together to reach the wider widths needed for table and benchtops and generally provide a more refined look than slabs. Common sizes include thicknesses of 25mm (1 inch), 32mm (1.25 inch), 38mm (1.5 inch) and 50mm (2 inch). Common widths include multiples of 50mm (2 inches). A premium is charged for wide boards (for example, over 200mm). Also included here are posts, which commonly are cut in 50 x 50mm (2-inch square), 75 x 75mm (3-inch square), and 100 x 100mm (4-inch square). Much larger sizes are cut for structural purposes.
